Talk is cheap
It is easy to say the words “I love you!” Yet without action, it is just words. After Jesus’ resurrection He challenged Peter with these words:
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”(John 21:15-17)
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
Jesus poses the same challenge before us all “do you really love me?” If your answer is “I do”, then my question to you is: what are you doing for the Lord?
Whatever you do, you have to do for the Lord. Are you just a pew-warmer, an “undercover agent” who lives a silent Christian life? That’s not what pleases the Lord. Are you involved in the ministries of your church? Are you using your gifts and abilities to further the Lord’s kingdom? That is what He sees as love in action – love is a doing word.
Jesus said we are not to be “hearers of the word but doers of His word”. What are you?
May the Lord bless you
